Food and feeding
Congo ctenopoma will accept most frozen or live foods but may ignore commercial flakes or pellets when first introduced into the tank, they should adapt over a period of time. They will readily accept tubifex, blood worms and brine shrimp.
Origin
Africa; Congo ctenopoma are to be found in the Congo River Basins.
Sexing
Male swill have extended dorsal and anal finnage.
Breeding
Although this species of fish has yet to be bred in the aquarium, it is known that in the wild they are bubble nest builders with the male taking on the parental duties.
Lifespan
The expected life span for this fish is 8-10 years.
Short description
Microctenopoma congicum is a fairly new species to the aquarium hobby but is very peaceful and will mix with other community fish. Do not keep these with aggressive or fast swimming tank mates. They spend most of their time in the middle of the tank but will feed from the substrate.
