Food and feeding

Quality flake and frozen foods are all accepted; add some spinach to the diet to keep these fish happy.

Sexing

There are no physical differences between the sexes.

Breeding

A large aquarium is required for breeding, at least 600 liters. At least 2000 eggs will be laid in each batch, immediately after the parents should be removed. In 6 days the fry will be free swimming and can be fed on newly hatched brine shrimp or crushed flake.

Short description

Brachychalcinus orbicularis needs a lot of swimming space, always keep this species in a tank that is at least four feet long. Do not add fine leaved plants to the tank or they will be damaged, the use of artificial plants may be better in the long run. Discus Tetra is a peaceful species and can be kept with other fish that have the same water requirements.
