Food and feeding

Africa; found mainly in Guinea and Liberia.

Sexing

As juveniles, Banded panchax are impossible to sex. However as they develop, the males will get strong coloration in their tails while the females tails will be clear or lightly tinted. Males will also have extended fins.

Breeding

Pseudepiplatys annulatus are group spawners, the best method of breeding is to add a group to the tank which is furnished with java moss or spawning mops. Remove the fish after spawning is complete and when the eggs are hatched, the fry can be fed on Infusoria.

Lifespan

The expected lifespan for Pseudepiplatys annulatus is 3-5 years.

Short description

This species of killifish is not as widely bred as the others. It can be kept in a peaceful community tank, but a lot of keepers put them into species tanks to encourage breeding so that the tank bred population will increase. They do best in a planted tank.
