Propagation
Although this is a rhizome plant, division of the rhizome is not the only way this plant can be propagated. They will also develop adventitious plants around the mother plant. To propagate these it is simply a matter of prying them free from the rosette of leaves and re-planting them in the substrate. Ensure that they get nutrients added straight away to encourage the new root growth.

Short Description
This is a beautiful plant that will contrast nicely with other plant life in the aquarium. They do demand high water quality and high nutrients in the substrate but besides this they are pretty undemanding. This species is used to produce cultivars for many of the different types of Echinodorus var. that are available. They are normally sold as a bare rhizome as the leaves will normally die back when first placed into the aquarium but new growth will soon appear if the plant has been given the correct growing conditions.
