Food and feeding
Quality flake can be fed to Brown’s betta but it much prefers live or frozen foods. Blood worms, brine shrimp, krill are ideal for feeding this fish.
Origin
Asia; Brown’s bettas are to be found in Indonesia.
Sexing
Males will display a brighter colouration than females.
Breeding
Browns Betta is rather unusual as it is capable of breeding by the bubble nest method or by mouth brooding. It is not clear yet as to why it decides to use both methods. The fish will not spawn unless there are two males in with one female, one of the males will get a bit battered but should be removed as soon as spawning takes place.
Lifespan
The expected life span for Betta brownorum is 3-5 years.
Short description
Betta brownorum are best kept in planted tanks with plenty of hiding places and caves. A pair can be kept in a 5 gallon tank but for a group, a 20 gallon tank should be used. Soft, acidic water must be provided for these fish along with a good filtration system.
