Sexing

Males will be slightly larger than the females with more coloration.

Breeding

Fine leaved plants or a spawning mop should be added to the breeding tank. The eggs will be laid over a period of days and once this has finished the parents or the spawning mop should be moved to another tank. The eggs will hatch after a week and the fry should be fed on Infusoria initially then offer them newly hatched brine shrimp. As with most rainbow fish the fry will be small and slow growing. Small daily water changes will aid in the growing process.

Lifespan

Expected lifespan is 5-7 years.

Short description

The Parkinson Rainbow is one of the more aggressive rainbow species but will mix perfectly well with similar sized tank mates.
