Information about care
Food and feeding
They will accept quality flake or small pellets but they much prefer treats of live or frozen foods. Blood worms, mysis, chopped shrimps and brine shrimp are ideal.

Origin
South America; they are normally found in Brazil and Paraguay.

Sexing
Males will be slightly larger than the females and display a blue body colouration. The females will normally display a duller yellow colouration.

Breeding
Like most dwarf cichlids, given the right conditions and high quality water these fish should breed. The female will tend the eggs while the male will defend the territory. Once the eggs are hatched and the fry are free swimming, the female will still protect the brood for several more weeks.

Lifespan
The expected life span for this fish is 3-5 years.

Short description
This cichlid is very sensitive to water changes, small regular changes should be performed and the quality must be kept high. They prefer a planted tank and are peaceful to other tank mates.
