Origin
Asia; Spiney-headed hillstream loaches are found in Sarawak and Borneo.
Sexing
Females tend to have a plumper body shape than the males.
Breeding
As of yet, there are no reported cases of Spiney-headed hillstream loaches breeding in the aquarium.
Lifespan
The expected life span for Gastromyzon ocellatus is 6 years.
Short description
As Gastromyzon ocellatus inhabit fast, flowing streams, the aquarium needs to replicate these conditions. High water flow and well oxygenated water must be provided along with hiding places and rocks so that they can graze for algae. They require a lower temperature than some fish (20-23 degrees C) with neutral or alkaline water.
