Food and feeding
This fish will accept all foods offered, a varied diet of quality flake, pellets, blood worms, daphnia, and brine shrimp should be given.

South America- namely in Brazil, where it lives in the river tributaries.

Sexing
The male tends to be slimmer with more coloration with a white tip on its anal fin. The female will have a yellow tip on her anal fin.

I have silver tip tetras and one female is pregnant but she has been holding her eggs for at least 1 month. I was wondering if she should be laying them soon or if this is normal. Maybe you can let me know how I can make her lay them? Thanks you and I will wait for your reply.

Hi T,

I count on that the pH level is too high or the female doesn’t have enough intimity with the male.

In the first case, use some natural water softener.

I’d like to cite this source (I personally bought the below-mentioned product and it helped me a little):

QUEREX is a biologically active oak bark extract with a high content of natural tannins. Used to create the so-called black water required for breeding some tropical fish, especially characins and small cichlids from rainforest biotopes in South America. These fish require soft water with a low pH value and a high tannin content.

QUEREX reduces the pH value, has a positive effect on fish activity, actively stimulates spawning, protects eggs against fungus, and naturally limits the development of green algae.

In the second case, move the female and the male into the breeding tank. But you probably did it already.
