Information about care
Food and feeding
These fish will accept all foods offered, use a quality flake or small pellets for the staple diet but also give these fish treats twice a week of live or frozen foods. Brine shrimp, daphnia and tubifex are ideal.

Origin
Asia; they are to be found in Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.

Sexing
Females tend to be larger than the males with a stockier body shape.

Breeding
Add Java moss or spawning mops to the breeding tank to let the eggs settle into. Another option is to use marbles for the substrate; this will allow the eggs to fall into the crevices as they are laid. The danios will normally spawn at day break, scattering their eggs around the tank. Once spawning is complete, remove the parents and the eggs should hatch after 24-36 hours. Once the fry are free swimming they can be fed on Infusoria.

Lifespan
The expected life span for this fish is 5 years.

Short description
These fish are very peaceful and should be kept in small groups of at least 6 specimens. They do well in a community tank but prefer the cooler end of the temperature range.
