I would like to know if I can have Red terror, because I'm from Mauritius.

Please, check any aquarium e-shop which delivers fish worldwide. I’m sure you can get it even though you’re from anywhere. Personally, I’m from Slovakia (Europe) and I can usually buy any fish species. It only depends on the price and the time needed for a delivery.

At what length do the red terror become red or some other color besides silver? Also, how do I sex my fish?

RE sexing: Males are larger than females. Also, females retain the juvenile coloring. Sexual differences are visible when they reach about 4-5" (10-13 cm).

RE colour: The colour varietes depend on the sex and age of the fish. In my experiences, all fish (including The Red Terror cichlid) get fully coloured at the adult age; Like above, usually about 4-5" (10-13 cm).

Would a red terror be compatible with a tiger oscar?

@shinsta: I’d avoid such combination. Due to size of the Red Terror along with it’s temperament, I don’t recommend to keep them together.

Of course, if the fish tank is very large and if there are objects which divide their territories then it’s possible to keep them together. However, I’d not risk potential troubles.

If you had a public aquarium with millions of litres of water, then it’d be OK to keep them together...

Hi, I have 4 small red terrors in my 55gallon tank. One of them has like a spot that seems to be opening up on his head. I'm not sure what it is so any help would be great thanx!

@shinsta: It seems to me like the hole-in-head disease. It is caused by missing Calcium or other minerals in the water. Do required tests in order to understand what’s the problem. If there are too few minerals, also pH should be at low values.

My Red Terrors, "which I’ve had for 18 months" look nothing like the captioned pic above. Mine got the vertical bars, with the first forming into a (Y). Of all my fish (6 tanks, 75-80 fish) I love my Red Terrors the most. Tuco is 10-12 inches and HAS to live alone! But Dingo (6") lives peacefully with his cousin Flame (8" Green Terror) and 3 large upsidedown cats (FeatherFin Syns...) and 4 Pictus cats (4"). All were raised together since they were cute little 3 inchers, and I love them all.
