As with other Discus species, the Red Discus needs a vitamins-rich food. Also use beef heart in order to help their colouration.

How much time a week on average does one need to maintain a tank of this species, and how much money average say... per month? (in USD, btw)

Hi Mike,

Regarding time, you will spend up to 2 hours a week on maintenance. Usually even less.

Regarding money, this depends on what do you want to do exactly. Are you going to breed them? Then you’ll need probably some water softener and relatively expensive fish food for the fry. Are you going to keep them only? Then the price stays the same just like if you kept Guppies. Of course, one specimen could cost up to $40, so it is an expensive hobby in this case.
