Origin

South America; Mees’ pimelodid’s are to be found in the waterways of Brazil.

There are no visible differences between the sexes.

Breeding

As of yet, not reported in the aquarium but in the wild Brachyrhamdia meesi are believed to be egg scatterers.

Lifespan

The expected life span for this fish is 5-8 years.

Short description

Mees’ pimelodid’s are a peaceful species but will see smaller tank mates as food so only house these with similar sized tank mates. They prefer subdued lighting and floating plants will create shady areas. Brachyrhamdia meesi will require hiding places made by adding bog wood or rocks as they like to hide quickly after swimming for short distances.
