South America; these plants are mostly found in Brazil.

Propagation
This is a very easy plant to propagate, they are a rhizome plant so to obtain more plants from it just cut pieces off the rhizome, these will then generate into new plants. Always make sure that when the rhizome pieces are re-planted that they are not completely submerged into the substrate, if they are the rhizome.

Difficulty
Easy

Short Description
One of the most popular plants that are kept in aquariums, they are very hardy and need very little maintenance. They should soon develop a strong root system in the aquarium once they have settled and can grow quite large so allow them plenty of room. A sure sign of nutrient deficiency is yellowing of the lower leaves so always watch out for this and add liquid fertilisers to the water to overcome this.

I have this plant and it is gorgeous. But I have recently noticed that the new leaves have a red veiny look. Any idea what is causing these red lines to appear?

If a "red veiny look" is the only thing, then the water in your tank probably contains too much iron. However, this is not very bad and there are other things which are worse than iron concentration.

If the plant has yellow colour and veiny look, then there’s something missing (insufficient light, inappropriate CO2 level, water is very hard or very soft, pH is somewhere "out of the range").

But again, if a veiny red look is the only thing which you are worried about, then the plant should grow and reproduce as usually.
