Food and feeding
Dasyloricaria filamentosa will accept a varied diet. Catfish pellets, lettuce, cucumber and peas should provide the vegetable matter. Brine shrimp and blood worms should also be offered.
Origin
South America; Dasyloricaria filamentosa are to be found in the Magdalena River Basins.
Sexing
Males tend to be slimmer than the females, their head shape will be broader and whiskers may develop on sexually mature males.
Breeding
Dasyloricaria filamentosa are a difficult fish to breed, they require perfect water conditions. Piping or similar tubing should be added to the tank, these will act as spawning sites. The male will guard the eggs and once hatched, the fry should be fed on newly hatched brine shrimp.

Although this fish is a good candidate for a community tank, it is very sensitive to water conditions. Hiding places should be provided by adding bogwood or rocks and a sand substrate should be used, these fish like to burrow.
