This is a very easy plant to propagate, cuttings are taken from anywhere on the plants and these will develop a basic root structure. It is quite often used as a floating plant but cuttings can be placed into the substrate, remove some of the lower leaves to reveal a small portion of bare stem, carefully place this into the substrate without crushing the stem itself.

As mentioned above, this plant only has a basic root structure but it will anchor itself if placed into the substrate. As a floating plant it will soak up nitrates in the water and also release a substance that controls excess algal growth.
