Food
The Bleeding Heart Tetra is an omnivore that feeds on plants, worms and crustaceans in the wild. This fish will readily receive flakes, dried and live foods in the aquarium. A diet consisting of spirulina and frozen brine shrimp will ensure quality coloration.

Sexing
The male Bleeding Heart Tetra has a larger dorsal fin than the female. The female of this particular species is slightly larger with a plumper physique.

Breeding
These egg layers are extremely difficult to breed in the aquarium but it has been known to happen.

Origin
The Bleeding Heart Tetra is found in Brazil and Peru in the Amazon Basin of South America.

Description
This species are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of 10 or more. They require a densely planted tank for hiding and spawning.
