Food and feeding

Badis blosyrus will only accept frozen or live foods. Their favourite foods seem to be brine shrimp, blood worms, and glass worms.

Origin

Asia; Badis blosyrus are to be found in India.

Sexing

Males will have an extended dorsal and anal fin. The females will have a more drab appearance compare to the males.

Breeding

Being cave spawners, the addition of coconut caves or upturned plant pots will act as spawning sites. When the eggs are laid the male will defend the nest and the fry when they hatch. When the fry are free swimming and leave the nest, the male will finish any parenting and they are left to fend for themselves. They can be fed on newly hatched brine shrimp as soon as they leave the nest.

Lifespan

The expected life span for Badis blosyrus is 5-8 years.

Short description

Try to keep one male with three females and give these fish a large tank so that they have plenty of swimming space. Place plenty of plants in the tank and provide them with hiding places.
