Information about care
Food and feeding
These fish will accept quality flakes and pellets. Treats of brine shrimp, daphnia and mysis should also be offered.

Origin
This species is endemic to Lake Malawi, Africa.

Sexing
Males tend to be more colorful and display more aggression in the aquarium.

Breeding
These fish are mouth brooders. The female will carry her fry in her mouth for up to 4 weeks. During this time she may not eat and will hide away a lot. Her mouth may also enlarge. If removing the female during this time she may lose her pecking order in the tank.

Lifespan
Expected life span is 15 + years.

Short description
As with all Malawi fish, rockwork needs to be added to the tank to provide loads of hiding places for the fish. Try not to add any plants to the set up as these can reduce the pH of the water.
