Information about care
Food and feeding
Although these fish will accept sinking pellets, they do much better on meals of live or frozen foods. Daphnia, blood worms, brine shrimp and white worms are ideal.

Origin
South America; these fish are found in the waterways of Brazil.

Sexing
Females will have a stockier body shape; this is more noticeable when they are carrying eggs.

Breeding
As of yet there are no reported cases of these breeding in the aquarium, in the wild they are believed to be egg scatterers.

Lifespan
The expected life span for this fish is 3-5 years.

Short description
These fish are often mistaken for Corydoras but the shape of the head skeleton is different, Aspidoras species tend to have a wider skull, they are also more sensitive to poor water quality. This species was only discovered in 2000 and are still quite difficult to obtain for the aquarium. Never keep these with aggressive species and always keep them in small groups of at least 6 specimens.
