Aquariums in my life

Hello, my name is Susan and I thought, that I could post here an article about aquariums. I'm my life. When I was child, about 10 years old, I had my first aquarium. It was a ball aquarium. Even me or my parents or anybody whom I knew, had known nothing about aquarium. It was a disaster! There were no aquatic plants, no filter, nothing. Just gravel from outside. We were changing whole water every week. I don´t remember how many fishes died...

But I felt very sorry about all of them. But now, 10 years after, I met a man, who have 2 aquariums. He knows a lot of about aquariums and care about them and I´m amazed by life in these small pieces of nature inside rooms. Now I know a lot about aquariums, biotopes, aquatic fishes and plants.

Aquarium is an amazing thing. Maybe because we live on the dry land and those aquariums are a piece of the water life. It is better than watching TV! I feel always relaxed, when I’m watching on a good arranged aquarium. Those fishes are just swimming around quietly and mostly slowly. They don´t care, if somebody is watching them, they just do they own business. In my dry life I love plants. And so it is in aquarium life too.

I love to take care about them. And maybe I like them, because they can´t get dry :-), I must not watch, when the ground is dry and I can plant them almost everywhere and I know, they will grow. Of course only, when they have right conditions. I like aqua fishes too. I like plenty of their colours, forms and behaviour. I like Tetraodon nigroviridis, because it looks absolute darling. But not everything is like it seems. They are aggressive and I don´t like that behaviour. In the future, I would like to own an aquarium, about 600 litres with lot of crowd fishes, plants and based on a biotope, that is like in free nature.
